That’s right. Cummins is buying a motorcycle company. But don’t be expecting an ISX powered road bike any time soon. It’s the technology Cummins is after. We’ll give you a hint. The motorcycle company they’re buying only makes electric bikes. Bizjournals.com has the details.
Nitrous or Hybrid?
Nitrous is a no-brainer for added power. An inexpensive bolt-on, the juice bottle will add instant horsepower to any engine. But it does have it’s drawbacks.
- It’s pretty darned tough on engine components.
- It does nothing for fuel mileage.
- Safety concerns with where and how the bottle is mounted.
But what about a bolt-on hybrid power booster? When set up properly, it would deliver instant torque and fuel savings. The system Don and I are talking about would also capture the braking energy to recharge the batteries. We found the details on Enginelab.com.
The Pontiac Fiero came in a couple models. The base models had a 4 banger. That engine produced a neck wrenching 90 horsepower. The fastback GT had a 2.8 v6 behind the seat. The most that thing ever put out was 135 ponies.
Bangshift.com has the skinny on a base Fiero with a killer LS6 swap, mounted to a 6 speed manual. That’s 430 horsepower in a little 2 seat road burner. And you can buy it for $13,900. 2 seats and a mid-engine v8 for that price?
Are Trick Vans Coming Back?
I don’t know about you, but in my world, side pipes are still cool. Porthole windows still rock. And who doesn’t love wide stripes and life size murals? The best place to find these features are on the side of an American trick van, circa 1970s. You also get cool features like a dog house, a view of the road, and tons of interior room that no ordinary door slammer can beat.
We will soon find out if these cool relics of America’s past are gaining in the collector status category. One gentleman has 10 of these shaggin’ wagons going up for auction soon. You can view details at Hemmings.com. Let me know what you do with that green and orange shag carpet if you buy one of these timeless classics.
