Well, it’s not quite a DOT cop in the studio. Let’s try retired DOT cop on the phone. While that’s a bit more accurate, it’s nowhere near as catchy.
Today’s guest is Kevin Colton, PTI’s safety director in Atlanta, GA. With his background in trucking, law enforcement, motor carrier enforcement and now on the PTI payroll, I just had to bring him on.
I really wanted to stick to a couple of things that have been a major focus on the podcast. These have been hot buttons for Don and I.
- Command Presence. We’ve brought this up before. How do you draw a little subconscious respect over the others in a room, or among other driver?
- Complacency. How to avoid complacency as far as safety is concerned. Whether it’s pre-trip inspections or going into the truck stop for supper, how do we stay aware?
- How to make your interaction with law enforcement easier and less frequent.
Kevin’s years in both sides of the compliance and safety equation make him uniquely qualified to address these issues. I’m hoping we can get him back from time to time to discuss other topics.
This is where you come in. What would you like to ask Mr Colton? As long as it’s family friendly, we’ll run it by him on the show.Share This:
